Call for Papers: The Cultural Lives and Afterlives of Sex, Gender, and Sexuality Data

How does data about sex, gender and sexuality travel beyond their original contexts of production – shaping public debates, policy, activism and everyday understandings in ways that are often unintended?

Amin Ghaziani and I are guest editing a Special Issue of Sexuality & Culture exploring The Cultural Lives and Afterlives of Sex, Gender, and Sexuality Data.

We welcome submissions from the social sciences and the humanities – across disciplines, methodological traditions and national contexts.

We are particularly interested in work that examines the cultural, historical and interpretive dimensions of data: how it is produced, translated, repurposed and transformed across domains of knowledge and practice.

📅 Expressions of interest (draft abstract, max 500 words) due: 1 June 2026
