EDI Scotland provides research and data consultancy on issues related to equality, diversity and inclusion in Scotland.

Data, research and evidence-based solutions are powerful tools in the fight against injustice and inequality. EDI Scotland promotes robust research with a radical edge and works with organisations (big and small) to make Scotland a fairer place for everyone.

EDI Scotland is directed by Dr Kevin Guyan, a mixed methods researcher based in Edinburgh with over nine years research experience across academia, higher education and the voluntary sector.

Research consultancy might include:

  • Surveys– advice on survey design, participant recruitment and quantitative/qualitative data analysis.
  • Focus groups– support to write an effective discussion guide, successfully facilitate focus groups, recruit participants and analyse qualitative data.
  • One-to-one interviews– support to write effective interview questions, conduct telephone or face-to-face interviews, recruit participants and analyse qualitative data.
  • Ethics, consent, data security and GDPR– advice on research ethics, participant consent, data security and ensuring that your project is GDPR compliant.
  • Equality monitoring questions – guidance on current best practice on question wording and response options for the nine protected characteristics in the 2010 Equality Act and other identity characteristics, such as socio-economic status.
  • Funding and tenders – input on draft funding bids and invitations to tender.
  • Monitoring and evaluating impact– guidance on the design of monitoring and evaluation measures, and analysis of impact.
  • Dissemination– advice on how to maximise the dissemination of your findings via reports, infographics and workshops.
